Pricing, Services, and Insurance

Mountainside Mental Health offers psychiatric evaluations and psychiatric medication management to adults ages 18 and older.

Pricing for my services was arrived at through careful research of psychiatric medication providers in the New Hampshire Counties of Carroll, Belknap, and Strafford. The average cost of each of those disclosed the rates for their services to help me arrive at the pricing listed below. However, many providers offer half the session time to their patients and charge a similar rate.

For Mountainside Mental Health, providing quality psychiatric care is not only about the time spent face to face with patients, but also the energy spent studying each person’s suffering and considering how to best offer healing recommendations and guidance. I consider proving healing a great honor and as such I consider these additional hours a gift of wellness to those I care for and will never charge you for this time.

Please make note of any questions or concerns you have regarding payment for services or questions about how I can support reimbursement to cover the cost of your care. If you are interested in receiving services at Mountainside but feel you may be unable to afford the cost of your care, please call my direct line listed below or schedule a free phone consultation so that we may discuss available options.

Free Phone Consultation

As a first step toward getting to know your needs, I offer a free phone consultation. This call will last about 10-15 minutes.

During this time, you will have the opportunity to share with me the concerns you would like support in addressing or ask any initial questions you might have. We will also discuss our next steps, including any forms to be completed before our first meeting and making a plan to obtain any previous treatment or laboratory records you might have. Collecting such information prior to our initial meeting will allow me to prepare, freeing up more time to get to know you, your concerns, ailments, and desires for treatment.

Initial Psychiatric Evaluation—Intake

These appointments are generally scheduled for 90 minutes.

At our first meeting, we will expand on things discussed during our phone call. We will complete a full psychiatric assessment throughout all areas of psychiatric and related areas of functioning. Doing so enables me to tailor your treatment, decrease the risk of adverse effects, work to rule out potential contributing factors, and offer recommendations for additional services or referrals to provide you with an outcome more likely to benefit your mental health and overall wellbeing.

These intake appointments cost $300 for approximately 1.5 hours of face-to-face time, or through alternative telehealth options. Included in this cost is any time I spend independently reviewing your intake forms, previous records, and preparing your care.

Follow-up Appointments

Our follow-up appointments will typically be scheduled for 30 minutes and cost $150 per session. We can also discuss a need, desire, or recommendation for different appointment durations.

These appointments will be spent providing ongoing assessment of your mental and overall health. We will continue to make adjustments to our plans only after an informed discussion of potential risks and benefits, progress and needs. Throughout, we will review the efficacy and tolerability of your treatment, with your preferences as essential to our progress.

Laboratory monitoring, additional psychiatric testing, and/or referrals (either psychiatric or medical) are offered throughout treatment as suggested by your presentation, contributing and comorbid conditions, and our plans for your care.

Thirty-minute follow-up appointments cost $150 for face-to-face time or through alternative telehealth options. The cost of follow-ups may be adjusted based on our agreed upon appointment duration and our goals together.

Follow-up appointments are scheduled more frequently early on in treatment and during periods of instability to provide adequate symptom and side effect management. As you begin to stabilize, the time between our appointments will tend to become longer, as appropriate.

Insurance companies place dictates on providers from behind the scenes regarding what should be assessed, for how long, and how providers should structure their psychiatric assessments and treatment approaches to meet their parameters. These parameters are set up as a one-sized fits all approach with the bottom line, not the individual in mind. Working with a private pay provider offers you freedom to work with those you feel will optimize your outcomes, not an insurance company’s. Often times my patients will pay a similar rate for follow-up appointments to the cost of an average or lower copay amount after reimbursement.

As part of my service, I offer resources to submit claims for reimbursement for out-of-network services from your insurance company, giving you the decision of where to seek care. We can work together to find a payment option to best suit your needs and preferences. Should you require one, please discuss payment plans with me and we can work toward an agreement on a case-by-case basis.

Suggested forms of payment include: most credit and debit cards, cash, checks, and Health Savings Accounts.
